Ok, ok, I know i'm a bit late, but i think it could help on forecoming releases.
I've made a program that correctly renames japanese garbage characters to ocidental correspondent (and yet a bit garbage, lol). So, no more applocale or NTLEA!
PROGRAM LINK : mediafire.com/?ydftfmcrcjh
It's easy to use, but be aware it's in Brazilian Portuguese (my native language). I'll explain below how could you use this stuff:
1) Rename game's executable folder(where executable are located inside) to any recognizable american name (say, 'game').
2) Unrar program files inside the renamed folder.
3) Double-click vprenamer.bat
4) Some portuguese instructions displayed on command prompt screen, press any key and wait program conversion. At, finish, you'll say the following sentence: "Bom Jogo!" Just press ENTER and... HAVE FUN!
Feel free to post doubts! Hope it helps, if you think it could be pinned, that would be great!

Das Programm umschreibt die JP Schriftzeichen im VP Ordner so, dass es sich auch ohne AppLocal oder sonstiges starten lässt
Es funktioniert.
